MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT
The 86th annual meeting of the Georgia Academy of Science will be held, Friday and Saturday, April 3-4, 2009 at Spelman College in Atlanta Georgia.
The meeting will begin with a council meeting on Friday morning, followed by paper presentations on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. The annual
meeting will culminate with a luncheon and award presentations at noon on Saturday. Plans for a speaker and field trips are pending.
CALL FOR PAPERS
The deadline by which section chairs must receive abstracts is Friday, December 5, 2008. The abstract submission form and complete instructions
for abstract submission are available from the academy website at the following link: http://www.gaacademy.org/annualmeeting09.htm
Abstracts will be reviewed by section referees for adherence to the guidelines indicated on the abstract submission form. Accepted abstracts
will be published in the conference issue of the Georgia Journal of Science. Competitive monetary awards will be given for student presentations at the
conference. Travel directions to Albany State University, fee schedule, conference activities, local accommodations, and other information
about the conference will be posted on the academy website soon.

If you wish to nominate a section officer, contact the appropriate section secretary. If you wish to nominate an academy officer, contact the
Academy President, Dr. K. C. Chan. The academy membership will receive ballots for section and academy officers prior to the conference;
results of the election will be announced at the Saturday noon luncheon. All academy members are encouraged to participate in the election process.
